FISHERS- The Fuel will head to Toledo to take on the Walleye on Sunday. After a loss to Cincinnati last night, Indy will look to bounce back and claim two points in a tight Central division race.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time these two teams met was on November 29 when the Walleye visited Indy and lost 3-2 to the Fuel in a shootout. Indy outshot the Walleye, 26-25 in that matchup while Tyson Feist and Will Ennis scored in regulation for Indy and all three shooters in the shootout scored for the victory.
STANDINGS TRACKER
The Fuel sit just three points behind Toledo entering this game, despite sitting at fifth place in the Central division as opposed to Toledo’s second place. Cincinnati and Fort Wayne are also in action today as they face off at 5 p.m. too. Both of those teams sit ahead of the Fuel in the division standings but Indy still has a chance to move up with a win today.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Brandon Hawkins leads the Walleye in points with 27 through 19 games. He is a key player to Toledo’s offense and neutralizing him will be important for Indy to minimize scoring against them. The Fuel points leader is Kevin Lombardi who is spending his first weekend back in Indy after a stint with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs. He has 15 points in 13 games, leads the team in goals with seven, and had a four point night on Friday.
