FISHERS- The Indy Fuel hosted the Fort Wayne Komets on Saturday night after losing to them in overtime last night on the road. The Fuel sold out their seventh game of the season but ultimately fell to the Komets, 4-1.
1ST PERIOD
Fort Wayne’s Reece Harsch took a delay of game penalty at 2:49, putting the Fuel on the first power play of the game.
Indy earned 51 seconds of a 5-on-3 power play after former Fuel forward Anthony Petruzzelli joined Harsch in the box for tripping. Both penalties were killed off.
The Komets did not record a shot on goal until the second half of the first frame, when the Fuel had already tallied eleven shots. On their second shot, Fort Wayne’s Blake Murray scored to make it 1-0.
At 15:09, Fuel captain Chris Cameron took an elbowing minor penalty but Indy killed it off. Fifty seconds after that, Jordan Martin headed to the box for a slashing penalty.
With 45.4 seconds left, the Komets scored again, on the power play. This time it was Kirill Tyutyayev who claimed the goal.
At the end of the first period, Fort Wayne was up 2-0 despite being outshot by the Fuel, 13-7.
2ND PERIOD
At 3:00, Matt Miller went to the penalty box for holding the stick. Fort Wayne killed off that penalty.
Matt Copponi scored for Komets’ third goal of the game at 19:36.
After two frames, Indy was outshooting Fort Wayne 18-13.
3RD PERIOD
At 3:35, Terry Broadhurst scored the Fuel’s first goal of the game to make it 3-1. Jordan Martin and Jeremie Bucheler claimed the assists.
Petruzzelli scored for the Komets at 4:29 to make it 4-1.
The Fuel continued racking up shots on goal but Samuel Jonsson stood strong in goal for the Komets.
Fort Wayne claimed the 4-1 victory despite being outshot by Indy, 31-21.
