FUEL EARN POINT IN OVERTIME DUEL WITH WALLEYE

FISHERS- The Indy Fuel hosted the Toledo Walleye on Wednesday night. Originally slated for December 28, this Central divisional make-up game ended in thrilling fashion as they forced overtime. Ultimately, the Walleye won 5-4 in OT.

1ST PERIOD

Cam Hausinger opened the scoring at 10:33 against his former Fuel teammate Mitchell Weeks in net.

Less than three minutes later, Indy answered back with a goal from Cody Laskosky to tie it up. Jordan Martin had the lone assist on that goal.

The Fuel kept the pressure on but could not score again in the first period that saw no penalties.

Shots were tied 9-9 at the end of the first frame, with a score of 1-1.

2ND PERIOD

Mitch Lewandowski scored for the Walleye at 4:11 to make it 2-1 after putting up six unanswered shots to open the frame.

At 10:33, the Fuel earned the first power play of the game after Dylan Moulton was called for slashing.

Fuel newcomer Marcus Joughin capitalized on the power play with a goal at 11:35 to make it 2-2. Tyler Weiss and Cody Laskosky had the assists on that goal.

Less than twenty seconds later, Jordan Martin scored to give Indy a 3-2 lead. Fuel captain Chris Cameron and Dustin Manz claimed the assists.

At 12:45, Toledo’s Brendon Michaelian scored to tie the game once more, at 3-3.

Chris Cameron headed to the penalty box at 14:15, to take Indy’s first penalty of the game. He sat for holding but the Fuel killed it off.

At the end of the second period, Toledo was outshooting Indy, 26-18 but the score remained tied 3-3.

3RD PERIOD

Laskosky opened the scoring in the third period with a backhanded goal right in front of the net, at 2:53. Owen Robinson and Christian Berger had the assists. This was Laskosky’s second goal of the night.

It was Laskosky who headed to the penalty box next for hooking at 6:13. This put the Fuel on the penalty kill and they were successful.

Toledo’s Dylan Moulton tied the game up once more with a goal at 8:54.

That was the last thing added to the game sheet in regulation, as neither team scored, forcing a 3-on-3 overtime period.

In regulation, Toledo outshot Indy, 46-23.

OVERTIME

On the second shot in overtime, Tanner Dickinson scored the game winner for Toledo at 2:04.
