FISHERS- The Indy Fuel announced on Thursday that former captain and franchise games played leader Chris Cameron has announced his retirement from professional hockey after five seasons.
Cameron, 27, was named the tenth captain of the Indy Fuel at the start of the 2024-25 season. Since then, he has become the franchise penalty minutes leader with 552, the franchise games played leader with 309, and claims the highest goal differential in franchise history with a +47.
“The last five years have been an amazing ride,” Cameron said. “I’d like to thank the Fuel fans and the Indianapolis community for embracing me, providing me a second home and an opportunity to live out my dreams of playing professional hockey. All glory to God and Go Fuel!”
The 6’5 defenseman played his entire professional career with the Fuel, with the exception of a two-game AHL call-up to the Milwaukee Admirals in 2022. Additionally, he helped the Fuel to the Kelly Cup Playoffs in all four full seasons he played in Indy.
