INDIANAPOLIS - The American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs announced Thursday that forward Brett Welychka has been reassigned to the ECHL's Indy Fuel. The Fuel will kick off a three-game weekend Friday night at U.S. Bank Arena against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
Welychka, 24, has tallied 10 goals and 13 assists in 27 games with the Fuel this season, picking up points in each of his last three ECHL contests back on Jan. 25-27. The rookie forward from London, Ontario shares the team lead with a pair of shorthanded goals, while his 23 points ranks third among first-years on the Indy roster. In 18 AHL contests with the IceHogs, Welychka has recorded 11 shots on goal and a -4 rating.
The Fuel return to Central Division play with a critical three-in-three set this weekend, beginning Friday in Cincinnati. Following the trip to U.S. Bank Arena, Indy hosts the Kalamazoo Wings Saturday night at Indiana Farmers Coliseum before visiting the Toledo Walleye on Sunday afternoon.
