FUEL EARN POINT IN OT BATTLE WITH FORT WAYNE ON SUNDAY

FISHERS- The Indy Fuel finished the weekend at home, hosting the Fort Wayne Komets for the first time this season. The Komets scored four unanswered goals to claim a 4-3 OT victory.

1ST PERIOD

Fort Wayne’s Hunter Johannes took the game’s first penalty for holding at 4:20. This gave the Fuel a power play chance early, however the Komets killed it off.

At 13:14, Aaron Bohlinger took the game’s next penalty for holding. After some time with the delayed penalty advantage, he sat for two minutes as Fort Wayne did not score.

After some back-and-forth between these two Indiana teams, time expired with no score and the Komets outshooting the Fuel, 9-5.

2ND PERIOD

At 3:25, Cody Laskosky took a slashing penalty. This put the Komets back on the power play, however it was the Fuel who scored shorthanded. At 3:58, Kyler Kupka scored the game’s first goal. Bohlinger had the lone assist on the shorthanded goal.

Fort Wayne’s Cody Morgan was called for hooking at 8:59, putting the Fuel back on the power play but it was killed off.

Indy headed back to the penalty kill at 13:04 but the Komets could not score. It was Lachlan Getz who was called for holding.

After two frames, the Fuel still led 1-0 while being outshot 23-16.

3RD PERIOD

Owen Robinson scored on a breakaway less than two minutes into the period to put Indy up 2-0. Jacob Perreault and Getz claimed the assists.

Just about four minutes later, Josh Nixon scored to increase the Fuel’s lead to 3-0. Chase Dafoe had the lone assist on that goal.

At 6:39, Mitch Hults scored for Fort Wayne to break the shutout, making it 3-1 with the help of Arnaud Durandeau and Jack Kopacka. That same line scored together again just 1:01 later, but this time it was Durandeau scoring.

This made it 3-2 in favor of Indy with 9:12 left in the period.

Fort Wayne’s Josh Davies tied the game with a goal at 17:30 to force overtime after time expired with just a few good more chances from both teams.

OVERTIME
