BLOOMINGTON- The Fuel spent Saturday evening in Bloomington, Illinois to take on the Bison in the lone preseason match either team would play. After taking an early 2-0 lead, Indy ultimately took a 4-2 victory with nine different players recording a point.

FIRST PERIOD

At 7:54, Cody Laskosky scored unassisted to give the Fuel the first lead of the game. Less than a minute later, Marcus Joughin added another goal, assisted by Kyler Kupka and Dustin Manz.

While neither team scored again that period, Indy’s Jadon Joseph took the game’s first penalty at 11:44. He sat for two minutes for tripping, but the penalty was killed.

Glebs Prohorenkovs took another tripping penalty at 18:15 which would carry over to the second period before being killed off.

After one frame, Indy outshot Bloomington 11-9.

SECOND PERIOD

Manz took a boarding penalty at 4:45 which was quickly followed by an unfortunate delay of game penalty given to Jesse Tucker, for closing a hand on the puck at the face-off. That was just three seconds later, resulting in a 1:57-long 5-on-3 opportunity for the Bison. However, Indy killed it off entirely.

At 8:35, the Fuel went back to the power play after a tripping call on Dylan Finlay. This was killed off before Joseph scored for Indy at 15:07, making it 3-0 in favor of the Fuel. Tommy Budnick and Jesse Tucker claimed the assists on that goal.

At 16:01, Conor Cole took a high sticking minor, putting Bloomington on the power play once more. They capitalized with the only power play goal of the game at 17:05. It was credited to Mikhail Abramov to get the Bison on the board.

Bloomington’s Lou-Félix Denis was sent to the penalty box next at 9:56 for tripping, but they would eventually kill that off in the third period.

After two periods of hockey, Indy had outshot the Bison, 27-18.

THIRD PERIOD

Things got a little heated in the third period, as Kupka and Bloomington’s Datema exchanged roughing penalties at 3:52.

Kyle Aucoin scored at 13:35 to put Indy up 3-1 late in regulation. Josh Nixon had the only assist on that goal.

The only remaining penalties in the game were at 17:55 when Denis and Indy’s Chase Dafoe exchanged roughing double minor penalties to end their games and send them to their respective locker rooms.

With one second left on the clock, Prohorenkovs was able to tack on one more goal for the Bison. This made the final score 4-2, Indy claiming the win.

After outshooting the Bison, 39-22, they claimed the 4-2 victory and headed back to Indy to prepare for the regular season beginning on Friday, October 16, 2026 at Fishers Event Center.
