INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, announced Friday that they have signed goaltender Jonah Imoo to a standard player contract.
Imoo, 23, arrives in Indy via the Southern Professional Hockey League's (SPHL) Evansville Thunderbolts, where he posted a 5-10-3 record alongside a 3.99 goals against average and .881 save percentage in 20 appearances this season. The six-foot, 172-pound netminder split last season between with the Manchester Monarchs and Tulsa Oilers, posting an 8-7-2 record, a 3.19 goals against average and an .896 save percentage in 23 ECHL contests.
After earning a spot in the Los Angeles Kings rookie camp before the 2016-17 campaign, Imoo appeared in two AHL contests with the Ontario Reign, posting a 0-0-1 record. The native of Surrey, British Columbia got his first taste of professional hockey in 2015-16, seeing one game with the SPHL's Louisiana IceGators, and two contests with the Federal Hockey League's Port Huron Prowlers.
The Fuel continue their playoff push tonight with a critical road match-up with the Cincinnati Cyclones, before returning to Indiana Farmers Coliseum for a back-to-back set with the Utah Grizzlies, beginning Saturday at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
